About Us |
Through the Minnesota Historical Society's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, partners Hennepin History Museum and Andrea Klein Bergman have created an oral history project that will capture the resettlement experiences of Minnesota's most recent refugees, the Bhutanese. Although we will include a few background questions like age, where the participant was born, and education, the main focus of the questions will deal with their experiences living in Minnesota.

Hennepin History Museum (HHM)
The Hennepin History Museum is one of the Twin Cities' most unique social history museums. We offer superb exhibits, a historic mansion setting, and archival collections of priceless scholarly value. HHM has evolved from the Hennepin County Territorial Pioneers Association in 1858 to the County Historical Society in 1938 to an award-winning history museum embracing a diverse range of cultures and social histories.
It is also HHM's mission to collect and preserve the history of Hennepin County while serving as a center of knowledge and public education in the community. In addition, our exhibition and education programs have grown from a focus on original Hennepin County settlers to documenting the wide range of people who make up Minnesota today. As one of Minnesota's most rapidly growing and diverse counties, Hennepin includes urban, suburban, and rural communities. This project has the intention of reaching out the various communities in the Twin Cities to help bring awareness of their neighbors, the Bhutanese, who have chosen Minnesota as their new home. At the conclusion of the oral history project HHM will utilize this web site and social media resources to advertise the oral history project, that will be able to store and present all transcriptions, media files, and photographs. The museum is credited in hundreds of publications throughout Minnesota for its role as a source for original research. Important archival holdings include records of local clubs and social organizations, photographs documenting Minneapolis urban renewal projects |
